"Don't put all your eggs in one basket" is sound advice, particularly when it comes to managing retirement and other public fund investments for Washington state.

Asset allocation is a disciplined strategy that works to produce strong returns over the long term for the members and beneficiaries of the various pension and other investment portfolios managed by the WSIB.

By spreading fund assets among different classes, such as stocks, bonds, cash, and real estate, asset allocation creates well-balanced portfolios that weather the impacts of changing market conditions to meet or exceed the financial objectives of those we serve.

Accordingly, the WSIB spends considerable time and effort developing, monitoring, and adjusting retirement and other investment fund asset allocations to maximize returns and minimize risk.
